We have reached a tentative agreement with Illinois State University to hold this year’s event on Saturday, September 5, 2020.
This is dependent on how our governor reopens the State of Illinois for business. We are still working out the final details.
o Presently we are still in a stay at home order through May 31st.
o Just as we have learned much in the past 90 days, the next 90 days will educate us further about our options.
o It appears that if a medically sound treatment for COVID-19 is made available, we will be able to proceed. While the information coming from our medical professionals is encouraging, we will not know for several weeks the status of such treatment(s).
o We are looking at ways to enact social distancing measures within the confines of our facility and its layout for the event.
o If we are unable to sponsor an outstanding event on September 5, we will look to May 1, 2021 as the date to induct both the classes of 2020 and 2021.
o By August 1, 2020 a final decision will be made regarding the banquet. We will base our decisions on input from the medical community.
o If you had a reservation for the event on May 2, don’t worry, those have been cancelled at no cost to you.
The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association will host our annual Hall of Fame Banquet in Bloomington, IL at ISU's Redbird Arena on Saturday, May 2nd. We will honor our 2020 Hall of Fame induction class and our IBCA Coach of the Year Award Winners. We also hand out three other awards: the Rolinski Lifetime Achievement Award, the Herrins Award, and the Derril Kipp Courage Award. We would like to invite everyone to be in attendance to help us celebrate basketball in Illinois and the great contributions of so many individuals!
